Hi,
The hotel I stayed was Shalimar, bit expensive about Rs 7000 a day. The hotel is really good with complimentary breakfast buffet. The consulate is walkable distance from the hotel. VFS also offers some facilities, please check with them.
I did not have to pay addition fee because the new fee came in to effect later. I paid the equivalent of $131 for each applicant!

One good news and one bad news. According to the AILA, the Conference committee took out both immigration riders from the H.R. 3043. It means that there will be no increase of the H-1B to $5,830. At the same time, there will be no recapture of EB-3 visa numbers for the Schedule A workers through this legislation.

See the thin is as far as the status goes I believe one is not on Immigrant status unless one gets the GC; and their are only two statuses, Immigrant and Non-Immigrant for us (or I guess illegal, which we are not for sure)!!
So do you think using EAD gives a person an Immigrant status in turn losing his non-immigrant status?

Let me add one more wrinkle:
Do you guys think I would lose my right to use EAD if I move to another employer by transferring my H1B? (I still have 2 years on it).
Please research the forumn for answer to your question...has been discussed a lot of times before...
To answer in short...You will loose your right to use EAD if your I40 is still pending and your employer decides to revoke it...

If you were born in India, EB-2 or EB-3 doesn't matter.
Absent any legislation, it is estimated both will take anywhere between 20 to 40 years to get to current date.

I dont have a "F" next to the expiry date on the current passport. so i can do the processing for renewal i guess and pay only the $15 for delivery charges.

Hey Ed - I chickened out on the Abes deal after reading the reviews - sounds like they make you work hard for your discount. If you went for it, let me know the outcome.
So what made you switch?
Well... A friend of mine has a photography business and uses Nikon kit. For a long time I have been impressed by her out of the camera images (color and skin tones), particularly flash shots. She was achieving good looking images with far less processing than me. Her nikon zooms were great wide open too - mine were just OK (on a 20d) I was hoping that Canon would take a hint, & come up with a feature set to compete with the d300. They didnt do it, so I jumped ship!

Somewhat the same situation happened to me, and my attorney advised this in order to avoid the filing:
You may call your bank and hold the checks that you sent second time. If INS finds that the check is not 'withdrawable' they will not file your application.
This is bad advice. Search other forums (Murthy etc) - i've seen similar threads where some smarta$$es tried stop payment and USCIS sent the unpaid application fee to collection agencies.
I would strongly advise you against doing this--Filing a 2nd I-485 application was a misinformed and stupid decision - consult a lawyer before you make your situation more confusing.

I saw the same thing in my online status, in october. What I got is a finger print notice which was originally sent to my old address which was on the I-485 application form. They redirected to it to the current address on file.
This is my guess: Since the online status has only few options, and may be the person who is updating it put it as 'document sent' and the one similar to that is the last one with 'Document production ....".
What I heard is, before they mail your GC, you will get a letter saying your I-485 is accepted. I never got that. I called USCIS and 'human robots' didn't have any idea on this, but they said my I-485 is still in the processing stage.

Nope. My lawyer did a mistake to correct himself he applied though dates were not current.

What are the requirements to file GC under EB2 category? I know USCIS needs 4 years degree. But I am Commerce graduate (3 years) from India and with over 11 years of IT experience, am I eligible for EB2? Can I use my experience to make up for 1 year. If not, can you suggest 1 yr. online degree (acceptable to USCIS) to be eligible for EB2.
